Rose Vestey is a London based artist, who graduated with distinction from the Royal Drawing School later studying at the University of Brighton for her BA.

Rose’s work has a surreal sensorial quality of ambiguous figures and biomorphic forms. Rose creates morphing elemental worlds that move between figuration and abstraction with pockets of clarity within the distorted dreamscapes. Rose’s process combines both a spontaneous and intentional approach, where indecision creates room for decision in her compositions and content. Her works seem to belong in a hinterland of transfiguring thought and subject that she never fully describes and renders, encouraging active misinterpretation from her viewers to impress individual meaning on the works. This in turn creates the suggestion that there is a desire to be exposed which oscillates with the privacy of her emotive content.

There is a strong sense of mood in Rose’s work across the media she explores in her practice. Both her abstract and more figurative pieces evoke mythological fantastical essence. Mythology, existing since the start of humankind, inspects timeless inner conversations and the battles of thought. Utilizing this theme through a more abstracted lens, Rose speaks both individually and universally, encouraging idiosyncratic translation of her described ontogenesis. A great endearment for Chinese Landscape Painting’s idea of the animus of nature, combined with the figures and signs of Bosch and Blake ensues representations that are rarely fixed, but in a constant state of change.
